How much time does it take for Credential evaluation?

Once all the documents required by the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators{CAPR}are in place, the documents are sent to the Ontario office for evaluation. The mailing depends on regular mail or courier but it has been known to take a maximum of a month to reach the office. Once the fees for processing are deducted it takes about 2 -3 months for the evaluation and then they will send you an eligibility letter that will state when is the earliest you can appear for the examination and what is your time frame for appearing both the exams. Currently you have upto 5 years to complete both exams successfully from the time of your eligibility letter is generated.

  • Do all get the credential license easily? Are there any mandatory criteria?

If you have the degree of Bachelors in Physiotherapy and are practicing Physiotherapy in any country officially you are eligible for Credential evaluation. There are certain schools and colleges that are not recognised by the CAPR and that can be found once the initial credential application is done. At present the only mandatory criteria is to hold a valid degree or license to practice in your home country.

  • Do I need a master’s degree to get my credentials in place? Is it necessary to have a master’s degree?

Master’s degree is redundant for applying for licensing in Canada. Although it does add weightage to your resume and experience. Most therapists who have settled here hold only a BPT degree with minimal experience. It is not essential to have a master’s degree for Canadian Physiotherapy licensing.

  • How many years of work experience do I need?

For getting a License in Canada, you need to fit an entry level Physiotherapists position and that does not require any experience. Although there are mandates for the PR application that your agent will be able to guide you better with

  • How much time does it take for the entire process?
